Metaplex¶

Metaplex is the NFT standard and tool suite on Solana, providing a complete solution for creating, selling, and managing NFTs. Metaplex is the foundation of the Solana NFT ecosystem.

Core Components¶

1. Token Metadata Program Defines the NFT metadata standard: - Name, symbol, URI - Creator information and royalties - Attributes and traits - On-chain and off-chain data

2. Candy Machine NFT minting and distribution tool: - Batch asset upload - Fair distribution mechanism - Whitelist and presale - Bot prevention

3. Auction House NFT auction and trading protocol: - Supports auctions and fixed prices - On-chain bidding - Automatic creator royalty distribution

NFT Standard¶

Metadata Account Each NFT has an independent metadata account (PDA):

Candy Machine¶

Royalty Mechanism¶

On-Chain Royalties Royalty percentage and recipients defined in metadata:

Automatic Execution Supporting marketplaces automatically pay royalties on secondary sales.

Compressed NFT (cNFT)¶

Breakthrough Innovation Uses state compression technology to dramatically reduce NFT costs: - Traditional NFT: ~0.012 SOL each - cNFT: ~0.0001 SOL each (100x reduction)

Principle - Stores data using Merkle trees - Only the tree root is stored on-chain - Full data is stored off-chain - Ownership verified through Merkle proofs

Use Cases - Large-scale airdrops - Game items - Membership cards - Any scenario requiring low-cost minting

Programmable NFT (pNFT)¶

Rules Engine Adds on-chain rules to NFTs: - Transfer restrictions - Burn conditions - Delegation permissions - Custom logic

Metaplex Protocol¶

Open Standard All protocols are open source and available to anyone: - Markets can freely integrate - Developers can extend - Community can contribute
