Unichain¶
Overview¶
Unichain is a Layer 2 blockchain developed by Uniswap Labs, purpose-built and optimized for DeFi, using Optimistic Rollup technology. As the official Layer 2 of the world's largest DEX, Unichain aims to provide the Uniswap ecosystem with faster transaction speeds, lower costs, and a better user experience, while remaining open to the broader DeFi community as general-purpose Layer 2 infrastructure.
Unichain is built on OP Stack and is a member of the Optimism Superchain, sharing its technology stack and security with Optimism, Base, and other Layer 2s. The protocol was announced and began testing in 2024, and is expected to become one of the primary deployment chains for the Uniswap protocol while attracting the broader DeFi ecosystem.
Unichain's core innovations include Verifiable Block Building, the Unichain Validation Network, and TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) technology, providing significant advantages in decentralization, performance, and MEV protection.
